Welcome to Tinder’s latest Verified QT drive for UNSW students! We’re on a mission to enhance user safety and authenticity in online dating, and we want you to be part of it.

DYK? According to Tinder’s data, being verified is one of the most appealing aspects of a dating profile, with 69% of users under 30 in Australia interested in seeing verified profiles1 and 66% specifically interested in seeing a profile badge to indicate verified status2.

In fact, we know from internal Tinder data that users in Australia and New Zealand who complete the ID + Photo Verification process enjoy a higher match rate, on average. So now is the perfect time to stand out and become a Verified QT!

By verifying your profile, you’re not only boosting your chances of getting more matches, but you’re also contributing to a safer and more enjoyable dating experience for everyone.

WHEN? WHERE?

On Thursday, 5 June, 2025, UNSW students will have the opportunity to experience Tinder’s Verified QT Pop-up, situated at the University of NSW on University Mall, outside the Red Center Building, the Traditional Land of the Bidjigal, Birrabirragal and Gadigal people.

Between 12:00PM until 4:00PM AEST, registered participants will have their profile photos captured by renowned Photographer, Cybele Malinowski, followed by a 1:1 session with Tinder's local Dating Expert, Sera Bozza, who will offer personalised advice, help you refine your Tinder bio, and navigate the ID + Photo Verification process.

Please note: Bookings are only available to UNSW students.

If you’ll be on campus but unable to reserve one of the limited spots, we’d still love to invite you down to get amongst the action and chat to one of our Tinder helpers on the ground, and to take part in our exclusive merch giveaway.

Sydney photographer and film maker Cybele Malinowski is known for her playful, edgy fashion shoots and portraits of actors and musicians. Cybele Malinowski is a multidisciplinary image maker, her work blurring between the photography and film world. Her work takes her to all corners of the world in search of the agony + ecstasy that makes humans tick.

Sera appears as a dating expert on leading Australian men’s and women’s lifestyle sites and is also Tinder’s Aussie dating expert.

HOW TO BE A VERIFIED QT ON TINDER

Sera Bozza shares these simple steps to become a Tinder Verified QT.

Click to tick: In your profile settings, tap on the outlined photo or ID image, next to your name and age, and then on the ID + Photo Verification pop-up to start the verification process.

Mapping the mug: Remove any hats, sunglasses, and face coverings before following the prompts to take your video selfie and verify your profile photos.

Tip: Make sure you’re in a well-lit space so the camera can capture all your features, but avoid any harsh glare and backlighting. If your photos are already verified, you will be able to skip this step!

IDing the ID: Once Photo Verified, follow the prompts to upload a government-approved ID, i.e. your driver’s licence or passport. The tool will then focus on both age and likeness to check the photo on the ID matches the face in the Photo Verification feature and your profile photos, and also check your date of birth.

And voila - blue checkmark and Verified QT status secured!

How can I take part in Tinder Verified QT?

Head down to Tinder’s Verified QT pop-up at University Mall, University of New South Wales on Thursday, 5 June, 2025 between 12:00PM - 4:00PM AEDT. You’ll need to register your spot for an exclusive photography session with Cybele Malinowski and 1:1 with local Tinder dating expert, Sera Bozza. Spots are limited, so bookings are essential.

How do I reserve a spot for the Tinder Verified QT UNSW pop-up?

Spots with renowned photographer Cybele Malinowski and Tinder’s local dating expert, Sera Bozza, are limited, so you’ll need to reserve your preferred session time via this link.

What are the opening hours of the pop-up?

The Tinder Verified QT Pop-up will be open on Thursday, 5 June, 2025 from 12:00PM - 4:00PM AEST. You can book in your session with Cybele Malinowski and Sera Bozza via this link.

Do I have to be a UNSW student to sign up?

Yes, this activation is only open to UNSW students. You will need to use your UNSW email to secure a place.

Is there a cost to register and take part in the Pop-up?

There will be no charge for attending the Tinder Verified QT pop-up or locking in a session, but you will need to make your own way to and from the activation – located on University Mall outside Red Center Building, University of New South Wales, Kensington, NSW. And remember to bring your phone with your Tinder account ready to go, as well as your ID!

You will also be required to sign release forms enabling Tinder to use any images captured at the pop-up across their owned channels as well as being distributed to media.

Tinder reserves the right to refuse anyone who has booked for whatever reason.

Do you take walk-in appointments?

All bookings must be made via the Eventbrite registration link, however, Tinder helpers will be available to support you on the ground. Bookings are not required for this.

What happens if I can’t make my allocated session?

If you are unable to attend your session, please make sure to let us know as early as possible so that we can allocate your session to someone else. Please let us know by emailing: tinder@altshift.com.au

What happens if I am late to my session?

We allow a 5-minute grace period for late arrivals; if you arrive after this time, we may cancel your booking.

What is the check-in process?

Arrive 5 minutes before your session to check in. You will be required to show your Tinder profile upon arrival. If you’re not signed up with Tinder, you will need to download the app and sign up in order to participate.

How many times can I register?

As the sessions are limited, you will only be able to book one session. If you’re unsuccessful in securing a spot, we’d still love for you to come down to the pop-up between 12:00PM - 4:00PM AEST.

How long does the session last?

Each exclusive session with renowned photographer Cybele Malinowski will go for 5 minutes, followed by a 5-minute 1:1 session with local Tinder dating expert, Sera Bozza.

I’m registered, what do I need to bring?

As part of your session, you will simply require your mobile phone with ample battery charge, and enough data to enable you to download the Tinder app and sign on, or to simply sign onto your Tinder profile. You’ll also need to bring a valid, physical ID (Driver’s License or Passport) to complete the ID + Photo Verification process.

What will I receive as part of registering to attend the pop-up?

As part of registering for the Tinder Verified QT pop-up, you will gain access to the digital files from your exclusive photography shoot with Cybele Malinowski, as well as tips from local dating expert, Sera Bozza. As part of your session, you’ll be ID + Photo Verified on the Tinder app, so will find the blue tick on your profile. You’ll also walk away with some Tinder goodies designed for a Verified QT!

What happens if I don’t like my new profile photo?

We want you to feel confident and comfortable whilst getting your photo taken, so we will do everything we can to make this happen and ensure you love your new profile picture! If something isn’t quite right, just let us know and we’ll do our best, within reason, to fix it so you leave with a smile.

Can a friend join me in the pop-up booth?

You are welcome to come along with friends to the pop-up, however, the booth is limited to one person at a time.

What if all the sessions are booked?

We would still love for you to join us at the pop-up! You’ll have the chance to chat with our friendly Tinder helpers, test your luck on our Spin the Wheel, and receive some cool Tinder merch along the way.
